By using Roman Empire Simulator or making a purchase, you agree to these terms. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the operators of Roman Empire Simulator.
Roman Empire Simulator is in active development. The Early Access subscription gives you full access to the game as it exists today, including all new features as they are added during the Early Access period. You can cancel at any time. The subscription renews monthly until cancelled.
Plans are subject to change. We reserve the right to modify our pricing, features, and subscription terms at our discretion. Any material changes to existing subscriptions will be notified in advance in accordance with Section 10.
We intend to maintain game servers through 2030. The game relies on third-party AI services which carry ongoing operational costs, and on third-party infrastructure which is outside our direct control.
In the event that we are unable to continue operating the service, all paying subscribers will receive the full source code and self-hosting documentation via the email address associated with their account, within 30 days of discontinuation. Self-hosting requires the user to provide and fund their own AI API access. The source code is provided for personal use only and may not be redistributed, sublicensed, or used for commercial purposes.
All game content, code, design, and associated materials are the intellectual property of the operators of Roman Empire Simulator. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the game or its components, except where source code is explicitly provided under Section 2.
The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access to the game. The game depends on third-party AI infrastructure which may experience downtime, changes in pricing, or discontinuation outside our control.
We reserve the right to perform maintenance, updates, or modifications to the game at any time, which may temporarily affect availability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators of Roman Empire Simulator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of enjoyment, or service interruptions, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Early Access is a subscription that can be cancelled at any time. We do not offer refunds for subscription periods already paid, except where required by applicable consumer protection law. If we permanently discontinue the service, users with active subscriptions at the time of discontinuation will receive a pro-rata refund for the remaining days of their current billing period.
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a subscription or make any payment. Users under 18 may use the free tier of the game but may not enter into paid agreements without parental or guardian consent.
You may not use the service to generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, sexually exploitative of minors, or in violation of any applicable law. The game is a sandbox political simulation set in an explicitly fictional alternate-history Roman Empire. Gameplay decrees and choices you enter are treated as fiction for entertainment purposes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section or that abuse the service.
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service: your email address and authentication data (via Clerk), payment information (processed and stored by Stripe — we do not store your card details), and your game save data. We use this data solely to provide and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
By using the service, you consent to this data being processed. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us via our Discord server.
We reserve the right to update or modify these terms at any time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes affecting pricing or your rights, we will notify users via email or in-game notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Roman Empire Simulator is a work of historical fiction. All scenarios, characters, events, and AI-generated content within the game are fictional alternate history. Any resemblance to historical records beyond the basic factual framework of the Roman Empire is stylistic; the game makes no claims about real historical figures or events. The game's AI-generated persona responses, press coverage, and Wikipedia articles are fictional and do not represent factual accounts.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
